Police Investigate Stabbing Incident in Maclean

Police are investigating after a man presented at Maclean Base Hospital with a stab wound to his mouth this morning, Tuesday 1 July 2025.

Emergency services were alerted at around 7.25am when hospital staff reported treating a 41-year-old man for injuries sustained during an alleged assault.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District spoke with the man shortly after he was released from the hospital. Initial inquiries indicate the man was involved in an altercation at approximately 7am in the car park of Ritchies IGA shopping centre located on Centenary Drive, Maclean. During the confrontation with another man known to him, the 41-year-old sustained a stab injury to his mouth.

Both individuals left the scene following the incident. Police subsequently established a crime scene at the shopping centre to conduct a thorough investigation.
