A 42-year-old man is due to face court today after allegedly robbing a South Grafton bottle shop at knifepoint — the latest in a string of incidents targeting the business.

Police were called to Liquorland on Bent Street just before 1pm on Wednesday, 4 June 2025, following reports that a man had entered the store, threatened two staff members with a knife, and demanded cash.

The man allegedly fled the scene with a quantity of cash and a bottle of beer. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

A short time later, police stopped a man walking across the Grafton Bridge and, following a search, allegedly found $1,630 in cash in his possession.

He was arrested and taken to Grafton Police Station, where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon. He also faces three counts of shoplifting, and an outstanding warrant was executed.

The man was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Casino Local Court today, Thursday 5 June 2025.

Liquorland South Grafton has reportedly been the target of three previous break-ins since Easter, raising concerns about repeat offences and staff safety
